Puppies and kittens and rabbits - oh my!
Being an organization filled with animal lovers, Meriwest employees were excited to volunteer at the Humane Society Silicon Valley.
HSSV is a non-profit no-kill animal rescue shelter that to date has placed over 500,000 animals into loving homes. Their mission is to save and enhance lives – both four-legged and two-legged! They operate an open door shelter 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Their newly renovated ‘green’ facility cares for approximately 13,000 animals a year.
During our visit, we toured the facility & learned about their mission and the importance of their volunteer programs. HSSV relies on over 1,000 community volunteers and foster parents to help provide the services they offer.
The day we visited we met several new friends (including Riley, pictured above). We're excited to report he was adopted that day! We also assisted HSSV in preparing their facilities for that weekend's "Maddie's Fund" FREE adoption days. Maddie's Fund is a family foundation founded in 1994 by Workday co-founder Dave Duffield and his wife, Cheryl, who have endowed the Foundation with more than $300 million. Since then, they have awarded more than $153 million in grants toward increased community lifesaving, shelter medicine education, and pet adoptions across the U.S.
