Last night we had the privilege of preparing meals for 65 families that are currently staying at the Ronald McDonald House at Stanford.
Their mission is to create a home-away-from-home and supportive community for families of children with life-threatening illnesses receiving specialized treatment at local hospitals. offers a warm, home-away-from-home environment.
All their programs are designed to provide a sense of normalcy for families whose lives have been turned upside down by serious illness.
Their Meals for Munchkins is the most popular program at the Ronald McDonald House at Stanford and for good reason! After a long day at the hospital, families are happy to return “home” to find that someone else has graciously arranged a warm meal for them!
We prepared our menu (two types of pasta, caesar salad, garlic cheese bread, and cookies for dessert) and set off to the grocery store to purchase our items. When we arrived at the House, we were met by a very friendly staff and shown to the kitchen. There, we prepared our meal and served dinner to 65 very deserving family members who call the 'House' their home while their children are being treated at Stanford Hospital.
We were honored to be a part of such a special experience and we thank all the families for welcoming us into their home for the evening!
