Many people know October as the month of candy and Halloween festivities, but it's also Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
In honor of this meaningful month, Meriwest built an MCU Lions team to participate in Pinkalicious Divas' second annual Pink Diva 5K over the weekend. Pinkalicious Divas, based in Gilroy, is a nonprofit organization with the mission of helping women live beyond breast cancer.
Our very own divas "and divos" walked, jogged, and ran through the Los Gatos Creek County Park to support breast cancer awareness, research, and programs for those who have been affected by the disease. Additionally, Meriwest became a platinum sponsor of the event.
Tiffany Fournier, Pinkalicious Divas Vice President, said it was a great, successful event. Over 200 participants came out to support the programs offered by Pinkalicious Divas in the Bay Area breast cancer community, and everyone had a BLAST doing it!
All the proceeds from this 5K will stay within our local community. They will fund Pinkalicious
Divas' breast cancer programs, including the Bosom Buddy Network, which is a peer to peer breast cancer support program. Proceeds will also fun the distribution of chemotherapy comfort kits.
A portion of the money we raised will be directly donated to the California Breast Cancer Research Program.
