Supporting Healthy Hearts and Healthy Living!
Our employees were happy to again participate in a favorite charity event, the American Heart Association's Heart Walk, over the weekend!
The Heart Walk is one of the greatest ways to get involved in the fight against the No. 1 and No. 5 leading causes of death in our country - heart disease and stroke.
Maria Sanchez, Meriwest's AVP, Retail Financial Centers and the team leader for this event, was all smiles as she led the group with her friendly German shepherd, Axl. She became involved with the American Heart Association 30 years ago when her mother was diagnosed with high blood pressure. She has also lost loved ones to cardiac arrest.
By participating in this walk, we promoted physical activity and hearth-healthy living while celebrating heart disease and stroke survivors. We also raised funds for cancer research, services, and programs.
Maria says she can't stress enough how important it is to learn CPR because it could make a difference when emergencies happen. She urges people to learn hands only CPR because if more people knew how to do it, many more lives could be saved.
